30 days will almost make you col-or-A-dan.

today marks one month in colorado.
one ridiculous month.

at the end of week one i could list these accomplishments:
- moved to a new city
- moved into my own (awesome) apartment
- bought a snowboard
- learned to ride said snowboard
- started a new job
- joined a yoga studio
- went on a date
- hired my first lawyer (who incidently got me off scott free from my 5 point speeding ticket in my absence at court)

bam

week two brought thea and jess and more time on the mountain, complete with near coxyx breaks and making friendly with both our waiters and our snowboard instructors at breckenridge. plenty of girl time, including post boarding moments in my hot tub under the stars (which you actually see out here), complete with wine, delivery thai food, brunch at the dish bistro with the almighty bottomless mimosa, my first denver snowstorm, and a snowy afternoon hills marathon (we are sick addicts).

week three i spent some quality time with my girls here which started with some ridiculously-reputationed margaritas (should have paid more heed to that reputation) at a place called rio and ended in some rich guys hottub and a small dis-recollection of events inbetween. that happens sometimes. just not usually to me. entertaining to hear stories about yourself the next day. and thankfully more funny than disturbing. somehow overcame my hangover and met up with tim for a day and a night in vail, which is truly all it has been said to be. majestic and overwhelming, it is almost comforting to know that now my little black razr lies somewhere in the layers of the 70 inches of snow that are piled on those mountains. little phone, RIP. thanks. now i have no-ones phone number. its lucky i even found tim. sheer stroke of wireless genius on both of our parts.

week four things have finally slowed down a little. i began to enjoy my job a little more. and that date i went on turned out to be highly advantageous on my part in the aquisition of a 1980's huffy cruiser. so hot. so necessary. the only thing im missing in denver now is a dog. seems like you'll be outlawed from the city if you do not own a pooch. and im also not sure you can get past two dates out here without being offerred something herbal. its just a colorado thing i guess. maybe thats why everybody is so damn nice here. if you can't beat em join em?? and another thing you never new about denver-ites. they LOVE saint patty's day. i cant even explain the madness that was this weekend with the saint patty's day parade. it looked like mardi gras for irish people. green hair, green beads, green outfits on everyone, people undressing in the streets. i drank some jameson for the gallaghers. oh wait, i never need an excuse to drink jameson.

today i drove out to a new mountain by myself and let me tell you. nothing beats chilling out by yourself in the middle of peaceful snowy slopes, cruising downhill with control all to yourself, earphones in, ipod on, just peacing out to nature. i now know how to escape all personal funks. i will not have any coping mechanisms when i return to the east. what will i do without a good dose of snow down my pants?

tomorrow im joining up with a pickup soccer game downtown that meets weekly and gonna try to get these lungs in shape. the cigarettes have been dwindling off, as well planned, but anybody who knows me, i like to hold on to my options. just not so good with absolutes. little by little i probably might almost quit. if theres one place that will inspire it, it is the air out here.

well. thats kind of where things are. wanted to give you all an update.
but now i gotta run.
bout to head out to a local hipster joint. everyone drinks pbr here. it almost makes me feel like home.
the hoots gang will be here on friday which is sure to be a good time.

i do miss you all in the lonely moments.
just dont forget about me. may 17th is not so far off.

-c.

edit: hipster in quotes. like when someone forewarns you before you go out that - its a really "hipster" joint. kind of like me mocking the person who told me that.

dilemma of the evening - ushpizin or saw II? not much of a dilemma. i mean, i pretty much would have done anything rather than pay $9 to see saw II. but ushpizin turned out to be a very genuine and entertaining film. good times and good company. and a lovely evening to frolic in the city before the cold front assaults us.

on my way back to the train i bought a delightful little journal that makes me very happy for some reason. perhaps its because it reminds me of someone i miss so ver much.  i would have bought it for her instead because she always deserved the coolest of all things and i could deny her very little.

but too bad matt riley of xpn was having a really bad night where he felt the need to play the most droningly chorused songs possible during my long drive home. i thought he would redeem himself eventually so i kept listening, but alas, the drive got longer and longer. unbearable droning chorus #1 - "please, catch my disease", horrendous droning chorus #2 - "busting up a starbucks", terrible droning chorus #3 - "take the skinheads bowling". i mean, seriously matt - you're usually pretty right on but tonight you killed me and my mood. good thing the night is nearly over.

as a last and final note to my readers, here's something i read tonight...

"tracks are for trains not people"
- SEPTA rider tip as read verbatim from a public bulletin
(just thought you should all be reminded)

peace. i'm out. it's bedtime. send me love in words, comments, and pictures of all the fun times.

so it aint no california sunset but my river is still pretty. and serene. i will spend the week weaning myself off of mexican food. once a day times 6 days = addiction i don't want to have to get rid of.
